Fishing waters
Åsunden is a clear water lake with an area of nearly 6,000 hectare. Largest depth is 63 metres. The water is clean and of drinking water quality. The open parts of the lake are relatively nutrient-poor but the bays surrounded by open farm land are relatively nutritious. There are many islands in Åsunden making it like an archipelago with flat rocks and shallow waters where the pikes like to stand. Species of fish
In Åsunden there are pike, perch, pike-perch, eel, tench, burbot, vendace, bream, rudd and some more species as well as crayfish. There is also a native population of salmon trout. The major part of the money from the sales of fishing permits is used to save and restore the number of salmon trout in the lake. Nearby Åsunden there are several good fishing waters where there are e.g. char and large pike-perch.
Fishing
Pike, perch, pike-perch and char are best caught using spinning or trolling. The pike season in open waters last from April to November. The large pikes are most easily caught using a spinning rod during spring and autumn. Trolling in the deep water works well all through the season. Perch is caught by spinning rod or angling all through the season. In the winter you can jig for perch and char and catch pike using ice fishing. In the winter you can jig for "ice burbot", which is an old traditional way of fishing in Åsunden. The burbot is best caught in the night. Eel, tench, bream and rudd are preferably angled. The crayfish are caught in cages or nets.
Fishing rules
We supply fishing permits for all types of fishing, except for crayfishing. We follow the recommendations from "Det Naturliga Fisket" (The Natural Fishing association). All fish that will not be eaten the same day will be put back in the lake. The crayfish are caught in our own fishing waters after agreed rules.
Boats and tackle
You can rent aluminium boats for 2 - 3 people with 9.9 hp four stroke engines. There are anchors, sea charts and life jackets available. We care about the environment and therefore only use environmental friendly petrol for our boats. You can also rent an echo-sounder and equipment for trolling. There is also a well stocked tackle shop at Ryda, where you can rent or buy the equipment you need. We supply all the necessary equipment for the crayfishing.
